The initial aim of the Heraklion Cultural Center, which was envisioned initially in 1975 was the creation of a centre and axis of culture, which would function as a unifying factor in the interaction of speech and culture of the people of Crete, Greece and the world.

Today, the building infrastructure, its modern architectural design and technical equipment, make the Heraklion Cultural Center a pole of attraction for the multifaceted interest of the artistic forces of Crete and the Mediterranean.
